This video outlines the general processes we went through. I'd like to add that we learned each software had a far greater depth than we covered above. For example i learned that after putting together a soundtrack in soundtrack pro from the huge database of resources that there were many ways to export it, we were sure to do it in stereo for our cinema showing. Final cut pro had many useful tools we couldn't have made the film without. I used the wireframe editing option to cut out edges of footage and to scale it. The blade tool was another favorite that allowed me to separate a clip on the timeline into 3 separate sections, i then changed the speed of the middle section to create the slowed down then sped back up again effect. Lastly i learned that the benefit of using these particular software packages was that they were all well integrated. I could import a title i'd made in liveType straight into final cut with out the need to convert or export it as a separate format.

Evaluation 8
All of the words that described our video project (image at the bottom) met our expectations of the film. The clip shows above shows all of our viewers responses to the film, according to the responses there were no possible errors/ faults with the film as non of the viewers could find a criticism about it. according to some viewers our project differed from everyone else's as it included an intense chase with lots of action moments, the viewers were particularly fund of the way slow motion was used in the project.

Evaluation question 7
Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learned in the progression from it to full product?
From the start of our course until now i feel as though i have progressed thoroughly throughout the process and i feel that i can product a media product without much difficulty. Writing about other films and describing their use of camera work, MES and sound helped me learn the codes and conventions used in professional texts and it helped my group and I gather ideas for our film.

I have learnt how to use camera angles correctly and effectively such as over the shoulder shots, long shots, birds eye view, establishing shot and many more. i believe i have used the majority of these throughout my title sequence. From our preliminary film to our actual piece me and my group have improved a lot, in our preliminary we did not use any close up shots which would of been very effective and we learnt from our mistakes and added them in to our actual piece.

Our preliminary was very useful as it allowed us to experiment with shots and look back on and see where we went wrong so we could improve it. We planned our final piece carefully making sure that we noted all the shots we planned on using such as long shots, close ups, some tracking and many more. We changed some of our shots as we did not think they looked as good as we thought they would. It did not take us long to plan our preliminary as we just wanted to get an insight on how it was done and we were not to bothered about it that much to make it perfect as we still has much to learn.

It took us a while to figure out where we wanted to shoot our film, our first idea was Tottenham and Hackney as they are quite rough areas and it would look perfect for our film, but as others from the group found it difficult to get there. We changed it to a more convenient place such as Regents canal. The area looked great for our film and it worked well for the MES such as the tunnels, the graffitti on the walls and the woody and leafy area. We chose to start filming on a day when it was not too sunny but not to dull either, and when we continued filming on a different day the weather was the same, which was a big coincidence. For our preliminary we did not have much time to plan it so the MES was largely ignored, for our title sequence we had plenty of time to find a place and change our minds about it.

We chose to make our music upbeat and tense in our piece, we constantly kept changing the beat until we found a prefect one that fit all the scenes. Our preliminary did not consist on any sound apart from voices as yet again we did not have much planning time and also we were not fully confident on using livetype. After some play arounds with it we finally got the hang of it completely and managed to produce a really effective soundtrack. Our preliminary would of been much better with sound included and would of added more suspense. The music was not really planned, we just changed it as we went along and as our film progressed.
Although i have gotten a grip with the editting i feel as though others in my group are much more comfortable doing the editting as i was more focused on doing the soundtrack.

Evalutaion Question 8
Evaluation Question 3 and 4
What kind of media institution might distribute your media prodcut and why? How will you attract/address your audience?

I believe my product would be distributed by Sony as they are well known for producing successful films. I believe my product could be as successful as ‘Kidulthood’ and ‘Adulthood’ as it has the same British take I also think our film would benefit under Sony pictures is that they are one of the most well known multinational media/technology corporations around. The film would have a large target audience for example action fans, thriller fanatics, the teenage audience.
As our product target audience is mainly teenagers we would promote our film via game consols, magazines and synergy tie ins.

Evaluation Question 5
Who would be the audience for your media product?

Our target audience is aimed at working class people and those who are localized in an urban area. We believe our film will appeal to young adults aged 16-25
This is 18 year old Dwayne from Manchester, he is currently attendting college and is studying Music. He loves music its his passion, he mainly listens to Dubstep, R&B, UK grime and some old school HipHop he wants to be a music producer. He also plays football thats one of his hobbies. He occasionally gets into trouble with the police due to his violent behaviour, if he does not change his ways soon he will be going down the wrong path. He loves to go raving on the weekends and hanging out with his friends and chatting up the girls (he's a bit of a ladies man and heartbreaker). He currently works at JJB sports he tends to sometimes enjoy his job but is not satisfied with his paychecks so he occassionally sells his belongings or items that people have stolen for him. He simply cannot live without a packet of ciggies a day, it has been his addiction for many years since he was 14.

EVALUATION: Question 8
Audience Feedback and comment?

In class we asked various of people what they thought of our film, whether it was good or bad however we got lots of positive feed back. The words above have been created from some of the things that people have commented on when we asked on feedback after the screening. Overall i feel that it was all mainly positive and our thriller opening was a success.
Below you can see what harry thought of our final piece what everyone saw at the screening. It Was all very possessive feed back and overall i am proud of what we all achieved and did. After all the time and effort we put in it seemed to have paid of.

EVALUATION: Question 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learned in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back on the preliminary task we did, i feel that we progressed rather well. our full product was well thought out however the previous tasks that we had done had few errors for example in the match cut 'snap' that we did, we had some shots where the head was cut of and the main characters where not in the frame. Also the quality was poor, we had shots that where slightly blur where we didn't focus it properly. From our final product i learn t how to focus the camera properly, learn t new shots such as from a birds eye view, panning and shots from high and low views.
Firstly when i went to the mac suit i found it difficult to use! i was stuck at every point even when it come to copy and pasting, however now i know all you have to do is click 'ctrl' and then select the picture and click save as. All the programs we had to use such as 'Live Type', 'Sound track Pro' & 'Final Cut' i ended up mastering (In my own way of course). When we started planning we all was confused on where was best to place our movie first we come up with 'hackney' we then changed our mind due to the fact we thought the estates might just be a little bit to rough however then we thought 'tottenham' and we didn't see any thing that went right. We finally decided the 'canal' it was a good choice after all. It was only up the road so it was easy to get to and had perfect conditions for what we was aiming to get from this film.
When we started using the camcorder me and the group at first forgot to do the most simplest of things such as 'put the battery in' well now i know i got to do that first just the fact if i don't obviously would be no power! We all laughed it of when we thought about it. If Somebody gave me one of these camcorders a few months back with no instructions i would not have had no idea due to the fact of the amount of different buttons that control the different functions!
We had already done the feet idea from our match cut however from both the pictures below you can tell how we had made great progress in making it look better

Evaluation Question 2
How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our media film mainly targets teenage boys or maybe even young adults as we are unsure of the characters age group. As you can see from the picture above our main character is dressed similar to the boys in the picture, we made sure that he wore a hoodie to emphasise the idea of a troublesome teenage boy. It specifically stereotypes teenagers as troublesome via the character running away in a hoodie. The hoodie represents a lot of things such as violence and gang related activity although he seems to be alone.
You could compare our character to ‘Sam Peel’ out of Adulthood, although the audience are unsure of our character has particularly done his appearance and behaviour is very similar to the character in Adulthood. In certain parts of the clip we see both the characters running in their hoodie’s, the hoodie gives the characters their personalities. The title 'On the run' also relates to the film Adulthood as their main character is also a victim as is ours.

EVALUATION | Question 6
What have you learned about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
The technologies that i have learned from the construction of my video project consist of many different hardware to software. the hardware that i used consisted, Macintosh computer for editing purposes, a hard drive to upload all of our footage, a micro SD card reader, HD camcorder and digital camera. all of the hardware mentioned played a crucial role in the creation of the final product. The camcorder was need to record the footage, to save the footage you needed a micro SD card which fits into the camcorder, a card reader is needed for the footage in the SD card to be exported onto a computer, the computer which would be best for this type of job would be a mac as they have quick processing speeds, when all of the footage is being put into the computer it is saved on a hard drive (this contains everything). The user needs software to turn the footage into a title sequence, the software recommended for this task was Final Cut, Soundtrack Pro and Title Pro. All of the software stated have a specific role in the creation of the Title sequence, final cut was used to cut and merger different footage's together, Soundtrack Pro was used to make the scenes more dramatic by creating non diagetic music in the background and Title Pro was used for the creation of the titles and how they will be presented. All of the software's specifications merge together to make our film.
EVALUATION:Question 5
Who would be the audience for your media product?
Above is a montage of Stuart, I Did this to show what are target audience was we was aiming for. This young man is still studying at uni, his got qualifications in sports and believes he can make it as a top coach his life is based around sports however he is already a private life guard and a football coach for young children at a school his still studying at uni to further his carrier and get more grades he needs to make him self successful. However like any other student he has some spare time to do the other things he enjoys, a good old beer with his mates, watching footy or maybe even going to the movies. His is own person and provides for himself. He got his driving license and car and is making his life successful for himself nobody else. However there is his background. He used to live on a urban estate before he started attending st Marys. Everyone saw him as a troubled teen however he was just being himself with his mates they didn't see the real him due to the fact he was being stereotyped through his friends and what he wore. Although his in a happy life style there no reason for him to lose contact with family or friends after moving out due to the fact of the convergence devices he has access to he can always talk through his playstation3 Online Or even his mobile. He loves his games with that exciting sense of adventure within himself and knows when enough is enough. All his life his been seen as something he was not and now his making a point that what he is, was himself and it don't matter what you where or how you seem your never know the real him unless you sit and have a proper old chit chat what he loves doing.
I believe our film will appeal to young adults aged 18-25, mainly aiming towards men however women could enjoy the film type as well. however I feel that the reason the age group was based between 18 upwards is that the main character of the thriller was a young man himself trying to get away from someone, also this genre has been proven to attract more males than females due to its fast pace and the UN-known knowledge of what is going to happen creating excitement and tension towards the audience.

EVALUATION: Question 3 & 4
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? How will you attract/address your audience?

Because my Media product has a fast pace, with lots of action. This would appeal to a lot of fans who like the different genre films Therefore i feel that the institutional that our media product would aim for would be something like Sony Pictures because they aim for the wider audience. Most of their films they have produced have been more than successful and get the audience talking. The Sony team have worked with many of the world’s finest independent filmmakers what shows they are big and well know. There not only producing films but also consoles, cameras, phones etc.. i also feel that with Sony pictures they can make the film well known not only in England but many other counties. Due to the fact out target audience was aimed for youthful people from ages 18+ Sony have new technologies available such as the playstaion3. Not only does this console give you the things you need when your bored and want a game you can also get 'blu-ray' dvds and watch them on that so it is not just a console for games its all rounded internet, movies and your action pack media-centered base piece of work. Its knows that the Sony playstation3 was very successful.
I Feel that to attract the audience we would need to put up billboards in certain areas. This will make the film recognizable and by looking at it will make people want to put there hand in their pockets to see a film like it. If your walk down many streets around London you will always see at least one billboard trying to promote their film that's where the success comes from once the advert is recognizable more and more people will start to talk. Below i have put a picture what i have made of a billboard with a clip of our film and our title 'on the run' this is somehow what i think it would look like if a billboard was actually made.

If Our film reached cinema i feel that we would have to show our type of film in one such as 'odean' or 'vue' these branches are good choice i feel because they have successfully shown movies like ours and made it a success.

EVALUATION: Question 2
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Our main prop was the 'hoodie' that our main character had on, just by this it had suggested he was either related to some sort of gang or crime. The hoodie symbolizes the fact that he could be related to a gang however that is just the stereotypical thing about this because the whole time our character seems to feel alone we can tell by his facial expressions,And then he has a call for help but nobody is there and he is left by him self which then shows how vulnerable he really was. We manage to challenge this stereotype by making the viewer ask them self is he on the run from something his done (The criminal) Or is he just trying get away to save himself (The innocent One).

The social group our media product was looking at was young boys/young adults in a urban area. Most teenagers are seen as doing something wrong and being labeled from what other teenagers around them do. Stereotyping is what happens everywhere and mainly in films we see this. We had used a teenager running away from somebody we don't see who is following him or give any idea why he is or where he is running to however we soon see he is being chased/followed by the ending when we see feet creeping behind him or right at the end with the reflection of both the him and a un-known figure in the reflection in the canal water.

EVALUATION: Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The aim of are sequence was to build suspense and tension towards the audience. The audience doesn't know why the main character is running or who his running from, the ending finishes with a cliff hanger of a shadow of the main character in the canal with another shadow behind him with there hand is looking as if their going to grab our main character, however we do not know what is going to happen. It was very effective for us to do this and this is a commonly used convention in an opening of thriller films to keep the viewer attached on what they are watching.
We had used long shots throughout the whole sequence this was to show or produce the idea that the main character was being watched/followed. However all our shots were done from different angles and distances this was to make the sequence flow well, and still provide tension instead of using the same shots over again because we knew that if we repeated the shots again and again eventually the sequence would have got boring. We knew we had to keep all our shots as a variety so nobody would lose interest however we did make a few risky choices on making the running sequence take up most of our 2mins opening time, we knew that the viewer may lose interest due to the fact all he was doing was running but we new it could also build tension and questions in their mind, all the best thriller films makes the viewer ask them self questions in our case the questions that could come to the viewer would be on the lines of asking themselves, where is he going? why is he running? who is he running from? Therefore in our case we relied on the audiences mind and imagination.
Our titles were clear like any other media product we had recently looked at, we knew they had to be visible and stand out to the audience. They was white However had a red glow around it. The titles were not still on the screen either we made them look as if they were flickering to make the titles effected and give it that creepy feeling. With the sound and edits being tied in with the titles it overall made it look very effective and all worked well.
In Editing we used short clips however they were snappy and quick cuts. Our main use of editing was slow-mo we used this to show when out titles were going to appear however we also used the sound of 'a bell' we did this to make the titles visible to the viewer, lots of real media products use this kind of techniques to make there titles clear and stand out, however we didn't come across any that had used slow-mo in the way we had thought off their for we just gave it ago and i think it worked rather well.
The sound fitted our sequence perfect. It was fast paced but at the right moments slowed down this showed tension within the character itself and what was happening around him. Our suspense built up towards the end where the fast pace dies out and it becomes more silent when the character starts talking and becomes more panicky. As i spoke about somewhere above was the sound effect of the 'bell' when the titles come up that was effective as-well as the other little sounds in the background such as the water, splashing from the phone being thrown into the canal and all the other little noises we added into it.

EVALUATION | Question 8

Most of our feedback is derived from personal interviewing, a great way to get people initial reaction but on reflection i would have liked to have made more use of social networking sites like facebook for some written reviews.
We also took videos of some of our respondents, due to technical difficulties we're only able to show you this young mans response.
EVALUATION | Question 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learned in the progression from it to the full product?

The preliminary match cut exercise uploaded on this blog was an improvement, we still made slight misjudgments on the characters position in the screen but our lighting and angles where much more effective. I think one thing we didn't consider enough was the mise-en-scene. More appropriate costume for the teacher character would have established the relationship between the two and made the scene more comprehensive.

I think the work produced for our opening is far superior to what we created in the initial exercise. Our first attempt at putting together a short film was a card game exercise, pictured above. There are many things we should've done better in the sequence, for example, the camera work. You can see in the shot on the top left we had the idea of doing a high angle shot but we failed to think about the way Fabian (man on the left) was going to be cut off when he stood. The other shot is a section of a tracking shot, but we regretted not focusing it properly, loosing the detail in the hands and the cards that the shot was meant to be drawing attention to. You'll probably also notice that both shots from the card game are quite dark, partly this was because we left all but one light on above them to make the scene more dramatic, but it wasn't until we finished filming that we realized we had left the light sensitivity shutter on, only meant to be used in bright sunlight. A silly mistake fortunately we didn't make again.

In our final film we drew upon our experiences and were able to create well considered, professional scenes.

EVALUATION | Question 5
Who would be the target audience for your media product?
Knowing your audience is vital to producing, promoting and even distributing a film successful. The audience detail we originally wrote in our pitch was as follows..
Our target audience is aimed at working class people and those who are localized in an urban area. We believe our film will appeal to young adults aged 18-30, primarily men. We think this film will appeal to a broad age range because our protagonist is a young man, however this genre has proven popular with many older males who enjoy the fast paced excitement and the darker aspect of a film of this genre
The one thing that was really a little to vague was the age and while i still feel a film in this genre would appeal to an older male i think it would be better strategy to market it to a more youthful audience. My reasoning is simply that the younger generation is more likely to access the promotional material via new media outlets, announce the film across a social network, go with friends to catch the big cinema release and download the soundtrack on itunes. By marketing to this more specific age group i'm making sure that we achieve as much interest and revenue.
I made the montage above to familiarize you with our audience, This young man, Steve, looks to be about 22, He's just finished off study at university and has secured himself his first job, average salary but with no-one to provide for but himself he has a fair bit to spend on entertainment. He's familiar with the city and an urban lifestyle, That's how he's grown up. Over the years his circle of friends has grown incredibly large, fortunately he's able to keep in touch with them thanks to new convergent devices. He's always able to share his thoughts with someone whenever and wherever, online, via his phone or even his games console. Steve's always enjoyed the thrill and sense of adventure that comes with many of todays video game hits. But when all is said and done Steve is just like any other man that came before him, happy to sit down in front of the footie, pint in hand.
EVALUATION | Question 3 & 4
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? How will you attract/ address your audience?

I picture our film as being a big hit with a wide scale audience appeal. After consideration i think a distributor that would really be suitable might be Sony Pictures Releasing. Sony pictures is a long standing film and television production and distribution unit, Releasing being their distribution label. They've released a lot of successful films which stand out from the crown. For example District 9 was a huge surprise hit last year, despite its never-before-seen actors and , i think because of, it's unusual take and approach to an alien thriller. Another reason i think our film would benefit under Sony pictures is that they are one of the most well known multinational media/technology conglomerates around. As such they are well suited for the sort of multimedia publicity and release I imagine our film would benefit from. Given that our target audience (detailed in evaluation 5) are youthful we'll want to make full use of new technologies available today. Take a look at Sony's hugely successful games console and all round media centre- the playstation 3, it currently resides in over 3 million uk homes alone. When Star Trek released last year Paramount Pictures and Sony Computer Entertainment announced..
that a series of Star Trek movie promotions would be beaming to [PlayStation] Home users starting tomorrow. That includes "an exclusive video greeting" from Abrams and the newest Star Trek movie trailer, both hitting Home as of Friday.Utilizing this network of users that share and access entertainment on a variety on new convergent devices will be key to promoting our film. Of course an old fashioned tv advert/ trailer would still be a great way to reach the largest amount of people. I imagine it would be shown post watershed during ad breaks of similar film showings to attract lovers of the genre and mature cartoons to appeal to the younger adult males.

There are also several more traditional Out Of House media forms that we could and should promote with. I think a billboard would be a great way to get a shot of our film to our audience, the emphasis is on action and the thrill so a large blown up image like below would capture the audience interest much better than smaller printed word adverts. We also considered taking out full page adverts in relevant magazines but we don't think it would be the best financial decision as most people don't pick up more than one hobby magazine a month.

Finally I'm sure that our movie would do best in the big cinema branches found in every city, particularly the likes of Odeon and Picture house like the one in the heart of Stratford pictured below. These branches would be a particularly good choice as they have student deals and are popular venues. Picture House cinemas currently have a partnership with e4 called "slackers club" especially for film lovers and older students. Their last free student screening was the action comedy thriller Kick-ass for example. I think these arrangements are great ways of generating interest and promotion by word of mouth.

EVALUATION I Question 6
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Evaluation 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what have you learned in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at my preliminary match cut task i have seen that many of my skills in filming have improved, this is due to the different shot angles, my match cut task has a variety of shots at different angles, the match cut product was about a pupil who was called in by his teacher for numerous absences, the genres of the two different products were different as the full product was a thriller whilst the match cut product was more of a school type of genre.
The clips that helped us make the final product from the match cut product were the shots of the feet, at the end of the final product we see the feet of the criminal, this shot was taken straight from the match cut tas
k, the pictures bellow show this comparison of the two clips. from the clips below we see that the images differ in many ways,
the picture on the left shows two people standing still, the picture on the right from the match cut shown a single person walking past the camera. the quality of the images are are clear as walking past the camera creates a blur and doesn't look professional, from the mistakes learned in our match cut we manipulated our official product so that the scene looks more thrilling, the background of the two shots differ thus creating suspense.

Match cuts have been implemented from the preliminary task, the match cuts in our official product have been made more dramatic by introducing slow motion and thrilling actions i.e. jumping over a gate. the image on the left is from the preliminary task and from the image you can see that it is plain and very unprofessional. The official task's match cut ends with a long shot of the actor jumping over the barrier, whilst he is doing this the titles come up on the wall behind him. From the images you can see that there has been massive progress in the differences in match cuts.

Evaluation 5

Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience for my thriller product would be action fans, teenagers and thriller fans. The reasons for the selection of audiences would be because the main actor of the thriller is a teenage boy who is fleeing from someone who the audience are not presented to, the factor that a teenager is in the film makes it a film who will target teenagers, the reality of things is that urban teenage films would mostly appeal to a working class audience as they can relate the the things in the title sequence being chased by someone). The fact that there is a feel of violence in the title sequence suggests that there will be action scenes later in the film. The boy kicking the gate open supports this hypothesis. The last scene when the pursuer finally caught up with our victim caught the audience by surprise and thus making our product attractive to thriller fans. Our product is a merged action, thriller, teenage film, this suggests that our product will have a massive audience from different types of class backgrounds, as the middle class would like to see what working class teenagers in the hood have to put up with.
Evaluation 3/4

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? How will you attract/ address your audience?
The media institutions that might distribute my product would have to be a big hollywood distribution company like Sony Pictures, this predicament is because my product looks like a big british film with lots of of action scenes. The film would have a large target audience i.e. action fans, thriller fanatics, the teenage audience and many more, this is the reason why i would suggest Sony Pictures to distribute our thriller product. The other reason for this would be that the distributer can simultaneously distribute my film to all countries so that the risk of losses from piracy would be reduced. Sony Pictures has distributed many films like ours and i would suggest Sony Pictures to distribute our product because they have past experiences in our type of film and will use knowledge from past experiences to attract a bigger audiences, by putting billboards in certain areas
Evaluation 2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
my media product represents a particular social group, this would be the young teenager, in many western societies teenagers are seen as troublemakers and consumers of drugs and are labelled as outcasts to society, in our product we had a teenager running away form someone, the person who he was running away from was never shown to the audience, only at the ending when we see their feet creeping behind him, at the beginning we present out character to the audience as somewhat of a thief as he is a teenager hooded up running through the canal making his escape. The stereotypes about teenagers would state that any teenager with a hood running must be up to something illegal, only at the end of the movie opening we see that he is venerable as he is trying to contact someone, his facial expressions suggest that he is afraid of his follower. The viewer is not shown what happens to our victim because we wanted to keep the viewer questioning what happens.
Out product shows teenagers in different cases/ scenarios, one as a victim and the other a criminal, this challenges peoples stereotypes of teenagers that they can be innocent and venerable. The sample that i would compare my product to is 'collateral' the title sequence starts with a close-up of two men, the audience are not shown who they are or what they are doing, this could be compared to my introduction of the title sequence as we are shown a teenager in this case running for no reason, both scenes start off looking casual but the non diegetic music starts to make them more dramatic, and to build up tension in the viewer.
EVALUATION | Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Many of the thriller openings produced by the students in my college develop on the forms and conventions of real media products.
The ways our media product uses are:

EVALUATION | Question 2
How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our protagonist is presented as a slightly cheeky ill composed young man. He represents a social group that is familiar with being looked down upon by those who consider themselves to have lived a wealthier lifestyle, but he knows just like many working class lads fighting to prove themselves in a city like this that his life has been rich and that wealth is something more metaphysical. We knew that by simply dressing him in a hoodie the viewer can begin to make assumptions as to his background, while not all of them positive this sort of stereotyping is widely used in the media. What is important in stereotyping a films protagonist is that you get people to question the stereotype by building upon the preconceived character throughout the story. I think we were more inspired by our own experiences and the knowledge that many people out there will be able to relate to them rather than another film when coming up with this character but you could say he stands as a polar opposite to many personalities seen in thrillers.
Take Tom cruise if the film Collateral for example:

The screen captured above is something i see as quite the opposite to the film we produced. The man above is moving steadily and assuredly in a crowd of people, quite different to the frantic sweaty escape of our hero. He's smartly dressed, and subtly hides himself behind those sophisticated shades, where as our guy comes over as exposed and certainly has a more casual attire. I suppose our film plays off professional characters like Tom Cruises' assassin in collateral, knowing the viewer is already familiar with them from other movies, allowing us to present them someone quite different.
Evaluation 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Our media product challenges forms and conventions of real media products by introducing many forms of conventions, these conventions are:
- Setting a scene/ establishing a a place- by showing the character in a deserted urban canal this emphasizes to the viewer that the character is vulnerable as the canal is filled with graffiti and has a very claustrophobic feel about it due to the view that the end of the canal is the only way out. Our character is shown to be resting at a magnificent landscape when he is attacked this creates suspense by the landscape as this emphasizes that he is in a safe zone, later on he is s
hown looking at the lake and we see someone behind him.
- Making the audience question what happens later in the movie- our product questions what happens later on the movie by not showing who is chasing him and why are they chasing him
- Edit- the way our product is edited glorifies the titles, the film was edited to slowdown when the titles appear this makes the titles noticeable by the viewers, lots of real media products use this technique, this is used to make the cast, directors, etc.. known by fans.
Sound- the sound in our product is fast paced which builds up the tension as the actor flees for his life through the canal. there is a loud church-bell sound every time the slow-motion and the titles appear on screen.
- The titles- the titles on our product are shown in white text with a bright red glow around every letter, the titles flicker across the screen making a scary scenario. the sound, edit and titles all contribute in making the titles appear affective in thrilling the audience.
Evaluation question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media?
Our whole title sequence follows the convention of creating a mystery as no one knows why the character is running until the end when the audience are introduced with a reflection of somebody else in the water. The title sequence was a suspense builder as the audience were unsure of what it was that was after the main character and what had happened before this.It ended with a cliff hanger which was very effective and chilling, again utitlising a commonly used convention used in the opening of thriller films. . During the sequence we had a long shot, this could be seen as someone watching our main character from a distance causing tension. We used slow motions in the scene to emphasise the characters need to escape, the fact the he would jump over things instead of simply walking around them showed that he was desperate to escape and was not in a state of mind of thinking clearly, also he desperately attempted to open the gate by kicking it open as he was in a hurry. The title 'On the run' speaks for itself as it is introduced right at the start and it follows up the next scene.
The music was upbeat and it provided pace. It started of slow as the tension was rising then it trailed of to a more upbeat style nearer the middle. The suspense builder was more during the end as the music went quieter.

Filming PROBLEMs
On Wednesday 14th we was going to go film the shots we needed however unfortunately Fabian forgot to wear the right Clothes! therefore we new we couldn't go do it because it would have looked strange with different clothes in the shots so we didn't think nothing of it got on with putting the shots together in the start of making our thriller opening. Me & Holly sorted through the clips we had filmed on our first filming day while Fabian and Era started on the sound track and Luke had a look with the different titles we could use. We made good progress and made a list of what we 100% new we needed for the Friday lesson what we new we was going to go film.
Friday 17th come, and everything was going well the weather was in good condition and Fabian had the right clothes on. And we all remembered to wear warmer clothes so this time we wouldn't be cold.
HOWEVER! THEN
nobody thought to read the actual closure signs that had been put up weeks ago what we walked past when we started filming, so we got all the way down to the canal ready to film with our equipment ready, to find the spot we needed was all closed of, most of the canal by then had been closed of due to building works! We all felt a little disappointing and wasn't sure what we should do because we needed these few shots! We walked up the canal to see if we could find another lock that looked similar to the one we had started filming from but we couldn't find anything like it however we did manage to do a few shots like the close up, and the splash in the water when he chucks his phone in the canal from the stress of nobody answering his call. We was walking back and we asked some police women that was walking down the canal, if they thought it would be possible for us to go threw the barrier since the door we needed was only about 2inches behind the barriers. They said to ask the workmen.

LUCKILY...
Holly and Fabian bravely asked the workmen if they would mind letting us threw just to film these last few shots and how important it was for our A Level Media! And the situation that we had come with. The workmen was obviously understanding and kind enough to get some sort of tool what he needed and opened the barrier for us to go through. And we then thanked them for their help.
